BELEN CLINIC
ABOUT US
Recovery Services of New Mexico Belen provides outpatient, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for those struggling with opioid use disorder, commonly opioid addiction. Utilizing methadone and counseling, Recovery Services Belen gives patients the tools to overcome their opioid addiction, improve their health and reclaim their lives.
Medication-Assisted Treatment in Valencia County
MAT with methadone has been the gold standard for effective treatment of opioid use disorder for more than 50 years. Time and again, methadone has been proven to provide withdrawal and craving management that gives individuals the opportunity to focus on long-term recovery.
Upon enrollment, new patients will meet with our medical provider to take a full medical history and prescribe a therapeutic dose of medication to ease withdrawal symptoms. A therapeutic dose will prevent withdrawal symptoms without creating feelings of euphoria as illicit opioids once did. Treatment plans, including medication and counseling, are individualized for each patient and their goals for recovery.
During the initial stabilization period, the patient will visit the treatment center daily to receive their medication. Over time, as they comply with the treatment program, patients may earn take-home medication privileges.
Recovery Services Belen is accredited by CARF, the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and licensed by the State of New Mexico.

Substance Use Counseling in MAT
Counseling is a critical aspect of treatment for those working to overcome their opioid addiction. Individual and/or group counseling is required for those in a medication-assisted treatment program, but is often the most valuable part of the service provided by Recovery Services of New Mexico Belen.
When the physical symptoms of opioid use are present, it is difficult for patients to look at the causes and consequences of their drug use. Methadone provides a solution to that immediate need so our patients are able to address their general health and well-being, learn to manage stress and implement healthy coping mechanisms. Group counseling helps patients develop a network of support with others who have been in their situation, reducing the shame and guilt that many feel when they are working to recover from the disease of addiction.
Patients will also work closely with their counselors to monitor the effectiveness of their medication and address any concerns or issues. Counselors are our patient’s advocate and liaison to the medical provider, working as a team to adjust the treatment plan as needed to ensure the highest level of care.
